The Pandemic and the Exploration
by Sameen Kaur
Grade VI, SPS Jr. School, Naraina, New DelhiAs the world was hit by the pandemic, there was a lot of talk about migrants, job crisis, economic downfall...amidst all this, I was waiting to hear about us, the children.
Yes, the children! How we were locked down into our tiny rooms, away from our friends and expected to be seated before our system for long duration of online classes! A lot of pressure on us...but aren't we the optimistic lot!
With plenty of free time at hand, we were an overloaded bubble of creativity ready to burst open! There were so many new skills that we learned at this time only because the whole world was now confined to our tiny computer screens. We could learn from teachers in India and abroad.
Reading was no longer a homework, it was for fun, there was self-driven reading, outside course books, that helped in enhancing language as well as knowledge. There was no longer a time-table to be just followed, we had to create our own. We mastered the art of time management created a fun corner in our everyday lives, all by ourselves.
With maids gone, we were the ones to clean and arrange our own rooms, learning the basics. Along with the satisfaction that it brought us, it also helped us learn how to create our own space to learn and focus better while studying.
The pandemic was therefore a means of self-exploration, learning of the skills that we had but never knew!
